CLIMBIZ Scaling Challenge 2013 succesfully implemented

The CLIMBIZ Challenge successfully found and supported the most promising, innovative and locally led social and environmental entrepreneurs in the Black Sea region willing to scale and replicate their work. 15 Ventures from 10 Countries in the Black Sea region had the chance to participate in an innovative accelerator program to advance their social and environmental enterprises in the Black Sea region. The ventures received tailored capacity building in multiple locations, coaching and mentoring, as well as exposure to new networks, partners, investors and a community of like-minded changemakers from across the region. As a result of this support, for example, ViitorPlus received the prestigious "Social Innovation Tournament Award" from the European Investment Bank Institute.


CLIMBIZ Supports BSEC to develop a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

Based on the findings of the CLIMBIZ Report “Climate Change Vulnerability and Impact Assessment Review for the Black Sea Region - Towards Climate Change Adaptation and Co-Benefits for the Green Economy”, BSEC was supported to develop a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. The strategy encompasses a number of strategic elements for the Black Sea region - such as promoting regional cooperation, catalyzing additional funding, awareness raising in multi-stakeholder networks and civil society, championing the development of institutional and individual capabilities and targeting research to key priorities. It defines priority actions over the forthcoming 3 to 5 years. The Draft Strategy is currently under review by the BSEC Members States and shall be adopted at the next Ministerial Meeting on Environmental Protection.


CLIMBIZ Launches Report at the Caring for Climate Business Forum in Warsaw

Caring for Climate – led by the UN Global Compact, the UN Environment Programme and the secretariat of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – organizes the inaugural Caring for Climate Business Forum: Innovation, Ambition, Collaboration at COP19/CMP9 on 19-20 November 2013 in Warsaw, Poland. Held in cooperation with the Polish COP/CMP Presidency, the Business Forum showcases the contributions that business and investors can make towards climate action while providing a high-level leadership platform with policymakers. CLIMBIZ launched its flagship Report “Climate Change Vulnerability and Impact Assessment Review for the Black Sea Region - Towards Climate Change Adaptation and Co-Benefits for the Green Economy” at the Forum. CLIMBIZ Speaks at the 16th International Business Forum (IBF) in Istanbul

The 16th International Business Forum (IBF) aims at fostering dialogue and knowledge-transfer between businesses, governments and civil society to promote, develop and scale up sustainable business models in developing and emerging countries. The event will focus on green and inclusive business models and is targeted to organizations already active in the space or that would like to learn more about combining economic, social and environmental objectives in their business models. CLIMBIZ held a workshop to share its insights on green and inclusive market development and the power of collaborations between sectors. Three CLIMBIZ Challengers - Plastica from Russia, Viitor Plus from Romania and Nydor from Greece - were invited to the Forum and exposed to trainings, potential partners and investors. CLIMBIZ Organizes the Emerging Europe Impact Day in Istanbul

The Emerging Europe Impact Day is a unique gathering to explore the opportunities of Impact Investment in Eastern Europe and the wider Black Sea region. It is a platform to exchange with experienced impact investors, enabling institutions and social ventures. A selected group of international and local actors in the social investment field met in Istanbul on the 26th of September at the UNDP Istanbul Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) for the Emerging Europe Impact Day. It aims to collaboratively develop networks, strategies and capacities that help to build up the impact investment sector in Emerging Europe. Panels, interactive working sessions, venture pitches and space for informal networking make the Emerging Europe Impact Day a unique gathering. For further information click here


CLIMBIZ Partners with the CEE Impact Day in Vienna

The CEE Impact Day is a unique gathering to explore the opportunities of Impact Investment in Central and Eastern Europe. The CEE Impact Day gathers global organizations, individual and institutional investors, and selected ventures to explore the growing investment opportunities in this region. It took place in the heart of Vienna at the OeKB - Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG on the 7th of June 2013, and attracted more than 150 representatives of the impact investment, social enterprise, public and private sector. CLIMBIZ Ventures participated actively in the CEE Impact Day and were exposed to investors and new partners. Check out the CEE Impact Day here


CLIMBIZ Ventures Selected and Start of Incubation Program

An International Jury - comprised of representatives from distinguished expert organizations pioneering the field of social and environmental entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe - selected 15 participants from across the Black Sea Region to participate in the CLIMBIZ Scaling Challenge. The CLIMBIZ Scaling Challenge is implemented in partnership with SEED and the Investment Ready Program (HUB & TONIIC). Business coaches from the Boston Consulting Group advice the CLIMBIZ Challengers pro-bono. A pool of Experts from across the Region provide Mentoring on-demand. Workshops are implemented in Vienna and Istanbul, as well as marketplace events, were the Ventures can attract partners and investors.


Public launch of the Black Sea Climate & Business Initiative

The UNDP Black Sea Trade and Investment Promotion Program invites to the Forum “Enabling Green and Inclusive Markets in the Black Sea Region”, which will take place on November 23rd 2012 [14:00 – 18:30] in Istanbul at the Istanbul Congress Center. The Forum is held as part of the Southeast Europe Business Forum. The main objectives of the Forum are to promote locally-led green and inclusive businesses that contribute to foster low carbon and climate resilient economies in the Black Sea region and to publicly launch the Black Sea Climate & Business (CLIMBIZ) Initiative. CLIMBIZ Challenge launched and call for applications opened

The CLIMBIZ Challenge for Green and Inclusive Entrepreneurs is at the core of the CLIMBIZ Initiative. CLIMBIZ supports green and inclusive ventures in the Black Sea region that enhance climate change adaptation and mitigation on the local level, with a clear community benefit. CLIMBIZ connects them with leading companies, business angels and investors in order to scale and maximize their impact.
