What are the eligible countries for the CLIMBIZ Challenge?

CLIMBIZ accepts applications from initiatives that are based and benefit communities in Albania, Georgia, Russia, Armenia, Greece, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.

What are the eligible sectors for the CLIMBIZ Challenge?

Applicants should be active in one or more sectors of the green economy, such as agriculture, biodiversity, ecosystem management and conservation, energy, fisheries/aguaculture, forestry, sustainable consumption, tourism, waste management, water and sanitation, etc.

What are the formal requirements for eligibility?

CLIMBIZ Challengers must:
a) demonstrate entrepreneurship and innovation
b) deliver economic, social and environmental benefits
c) have the intention and potential to become financially sustainable
d) be locally driven or locally led
e) have the intention and potential to scale up or significantly replicate
f) be at least in the start-up phase or early stage of implementation
g) work in partnership with different stakeholder groups
h) operate in a Member State of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (i.e. Albania, Georgia, Russia, Armenia, Greece, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine)
i) be active in one or more sectors of the green economy, such as agriculture, biodiversity, ecosystem management and conservation, energy, fisheries/aguaculture, forestry, sustainable consumption, tourism, waste management, water and sanitation, etc.

What is the expected development status of projects that can be submitted?

Please see eligibility criteria f) the green and inclusive enterprise must be at least in the start-up phase or early stage of implementation, which means that prove of concept and first results can be demonstrated.

How can I check the status of my application?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unfortunately unable to respond to individual inquiries regarding the status of applications. We will notify you of the status of your application once the shortlisting process has been completed.

How do I know my submission will be considered for the CLIMBIZ Challenge?

You will receive an acknowledgment via email that your application has been received. If we have further suggestions or questions, we might contact you again. We will also acknowledge receipt of postal applications, but these may take some time to arrive.

Is the application form available in languages other than English?

The application form is currently only available in English and will be processed only in English.

What is the closing date for application?

If my application is not selected, can I get feedback about the reasons and how to make a future application stronger?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are not able to provide individual feedback about the reasons for a rejection. Information about the Winners will be available on the CLIMBIZ website. We encourage you to review this information to understand the characteristics of organisations that are selected for the CLIMBIZ Challenge.

Many good organisations apply for the CLIMBIZ Challenge but are not selected. This is the reality of a highly competitive, open source process. Our selections reflect our best assessment of the match between applications and our selection criteria. They do not reflect an assessment of the value of your organisation’s work.
